We were invited by ‘Bling Bling Africa’ (BBA) to visit Kenia. This NGO is working together with women from the Kenian Sambura and Masai tribe in an income generating project, producing jewellery for the local and Dutch market. During one week we gave workshops to teach the Samburu women some exclusive A V E designs, which we gave to BBA to use the profit for their project . Also, BBA asked us to help with designs and redefine their collections.
Most interesting was the exchange of knowledge. A V E design brought Brazilian and Dutch techniques to Kenia and in return learned Samburu techniques, integrating them in new the A V E collection. The results are some incredible designs inspired by traditional African pieces and rituals, mixing styles and materials from all over the world.
